My name is Dave Allen. I am a USA born and raised adventurer and International traveler. I seek out exotic destinations, resorts and activities that all ages, levels of physical fitness and those pressed for time can experience.
I am also a professional photographer, writer, film maker, pilot and technical diver, and I create professionally produced multimedia speaking presentations featuring the exotic and luxury places I have been to. Sort of like “show and tell” but on steroids. Think of a cross between a Steve Jobs presentation and exotic travel.
As to photography, for land I shoot at 42.5 megapixels in RAW file format, and also do bracketed HDR tripod photography to tame the remarkable light ranges of the intense sun tropics. This technique is used for those shots inside an accommodation with a very bright tropical view through the windows. I shoot everything from nature, animals, marine life, people, experiential to resorts, and restaurant menus, the latter of which is most challenging as its an exercise in torture when hungry but with no time to attack each tasty executive chef prepared dish like a monkey on a cupcake.
For smooth handheld film work, I used a 4k gyro gimbal cam, and for aerials, I use a 4k high bit rate cine drone along with a smaller 4k Hasseblad equipped cine drone that can be programmed for scripted moves such as ascending helix, follow, orbit, hyperlapse, etc.
For underwater work, I use a combination of a high bit rate 35mm 4k cine cam and a GoPro 7, and a closed circuit Inspiration rebreather with Vision electronics, sponsored by our North American friends over at Silent Diving Systems and rebreather consumables by Molecular Products.
I absolutely love what I do because of the people I have met, the international friends I have been blessed with, the wonderful countries and cultures I have experienced, and the things I have seen and done, they have all made me rich in life.
